After nearly a month, plus some procrastination and consternation, I’ve created a cover I love enough to put on my book!
I got the best compliment ever on this painting when I took it downtown to be photographed a few days ago. Two girls came by and kept saying, “How beautiful!” They were drawn to it as if by a magnet. That’s the best news I’ve had… because the book is for young girls and I want them all to love the cover. This at least shows me it works! My friend, Judy, took a photograph, then a scan, and then… my online friends suggested a change. That is being done… then we will scan again. What a process! But after all is done I’ll have a cover with a pretty river girl. The northern lights come down to her and are transformed into a river, which materializes in her hair.
That is not what the book is about. It is a nice story of a young girl’s life in the Northern California wilderness. See the website for more information… it is at River Girl… where I’ve posted background information and a short story.
