After numerous sketches I came up with a reasonable and even exciting concept, and during the last week I’ve been working on the painting. Problem is, I’m not a natural artist, my paints are not good quality, and my brushes are also not all that great. I have a lot of the painting done. Actually, I did much more… worked hard on it too, then was told there was too much green and too much movement.
In a moment of frustration this early morning I covered all that with black paint, and then my partner came in and said it looked much better! I was surprised at his reaction!
So today I worked on the girl’s eyes. I am not happy with them yet. I am wishing I had better paint and brushes. I will keep trying to make this work. I’ve done great eyes in the past – this is using acrylic paint – but so far this isn’t working as well as I wish it was. Perhaps I need to write a special prayer for artists… this I could do.
